Today raised £84 for Operation Noah. We had a few more children again as most have not yet gone back to school quite but it was generally a little quieter day as perhaps some take advantage of the later summer to go away. However a good selection of cakes was enjoyed by all those present. A quieter coffee morning but a lovely sunny day. We celebrated the golden wedding anniversary of Jane and Goff as well with a cake. The raffle was also held. A total of £80 was raised for the Birmingham Dogs home.
Despite a very slow start we managed to raise £82 for the Open Doors Charity which supports Christians who suffer for their beliefs. It is hard for us to understand this when we are usually faced with indifference rather than persecution when speaking of our faith. There were many raffle prizes and we welcomed a couple of new faces and it was nice to see Arthur Edwards there with his family.
Thanks to Chris and Sue for their work and home made cakes. We met today in jubilee festive mood to support the work of MAF. Many flags were to be seen both in the church and on our journeys to the chapel. Good conversation and a raffle complimented the lovely sunny day. Even found time to put a massive flag up on our scaffolding in support of the platinum jubilee.
Several familiar faces were missing today but those who came had a laugh and enjoyed the company. We collected £105 for our Methodist Church. This total was greatly helped by Sue, who brought her tomato plants for us to sell.
In June we shall be celebrating the Queens Platinum Jubilee on coffee morning day so be prepared to bring your crown and wave a flag! April coffee morning was quieter than some and we raised £86.50 for Street Child. Easter simnel cake and meringues with cream were served and Evelyn also made little baskets of mini eggs all of which contributed to our total. Thanks to Evelyn, Phil and Pauline our servers.
The coffee morning was a busy one with many people commenting that they had known someone affected with Pancreatic Cancer and so a magnificent £146 was raised for the charity. Thanks to Hazel and Elizabeth for hosting the event.
A total of £106 raised to support Young Minds. A good mix of people attended to discuss their Spring plans.and even one doggie made a good turnout for the day.
Today heralded the first of our 2022 monthly coffee mornings and our chosen charity to kickstart the new year was Saint Giles’ Hospice. In spite of the winter chill a good number of hardy souls ventured out and were rewarded by a lovely spread of new year goodies, a guess the name of the doll competition and our ever popular raffle. Many thanks to Chris, Sue and Val who hosted today’s gathering, ably assisted by washing up team Vincent, Malcolm and Colin! The snow was falling as we left, happy to have met up with friends and satisfied with the healthy £100 raised which will be sent to Saint Giles’ Hospice this week.
Due to the inclement weather a select few met for the Christmas coffee morning in aid of Emmaus, a charity serving the homeless. We had some fun and raised £90 as well. All present practiced singing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" and then pulled a party popper. The raffle prizes were a big hit! |
